Lucas Rieffel has been described by vinegrower André Ostertag as 'one of the young chaps on the move'. His 9.5ha of vines include significant plantings in the three Grands Crus around the stunningly beautiful village of Mittelbergheim - Zotzenberg in Mittelbergheim, Wiebelsberg in nearby Andlau and Kirchberg just over the hill in Barr. Big on Riesling (35% of their plantings), they also make luscious Pinot Gris (especially the food-friendly Colline aux Escargots) and a range of splendid Gewurztraminers. Their Klevner is a pure Auxerrois from over 50 year-old vines, and their excellent Crémant is Chardonnay-based.
