A 10ha family domaine run by Joseph and Francis Burn. Over half their vines are in Grand Cru Goldert, where their fabled 5ha Clos St-Imer is situated. All the noble varieties are planted here, but Goldert is especially suited to Muscat and Gewurztraminer. In fact, if you’re a fan of Alsace Muscat, this is the place to come: Francis Burn is charmed and challenged by turns by this maddeningly fickle variety, which accounts for a massive 10% of their production. “We have the right climate and the right soils, and we give it our best parcelles”, he admits. All Burn wines are massive, rich and concentrated, deliciously accessible when young but with great ageing potential.

Useful information: The tasting caveau is open Monday to Saturday 08.30-11.00 and 13.30-18.00; Sunday 15.00-18.00. English spoken.
