Another Entre-Deux-Mers white that may confound expectations. Owned by Francis and Marie Courselle, it is daughters Marie and Sylvie who are intrinsic to the wine’s success. She worked in the Languedoc, California and Spain before returning to the family estate and has a great overview of where Bordeaux fits into the global picture. The Courselles use a modern approach to vinification, with cold maceration, skin contact, and absolutely no air contact during fermentation. Their aim is to make wine that suits a more relaxed approach to life. Château Thieuley has launched its own wine club, Club T, offering special dinners, barrel tastings, and offers on wines.

Useful information: Tours are free Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays by appointment. Tasting of three wines for €5 per person. For a more ‘technical’ visit, contact in advance. Visits are 45-60 minutes and you will visit the vineyard, as well as the vinification room and barrel cellar (both modern and very well presented). Also worth knowing is that they have opened a chambres d’hôtes at their property in Capian, Clos Sainte Anne.
