It’s hard to get away from the influence that the Cazes family has had on the northern Médoc, but you may as well embrace it, because they certainly know what they’re doing. This Parisian-style bistro has a much more relaxed ambiance than nearby Cordeillan Bages, and an excellent wine list with choices from Argentina, California, Portugal and of course Bordeaux. The food, from chef Pauline Roses, is French and southern European, with numerous lighter options and it’s all delivered with a panache rarely found in the region.

Useful information: Menus from €13 (lunch), €25 (evening).
