A wine tour in this illustrious wine region needs careful planning as many famous châteaux are not open to visitors without a personal introduction. The most famous château that always used to be on everyone’s itinerary was Château Mouton-Rothschild with its famous museum, however it is closed for renovations in 2010 so not accepting visitors. There are however increasing numbers of châteaux that welcome wine tourists.
