The first, the last, the only choice if you’re going for glamour in this region. The style is country retreat – lots of distressed wood, large mirrors, rustic touches – but all done with no expense spared and finished to perfection. A lovely bar also, and two restaurants (my favourite being the bistro-style Table du Lavoir). And of course, this hotel is most famous for its vinotherapy spa, where you can order a chardonnay scrub or a merlot wrap.
Useful information: Doubles from €185 in low season, €240 in high season.
