Main towns and villages

Very close to the centre of Bordeaux, much of Pessac is urban sprawl, but there are some lovely parks and a city zoo. And it’s the site of both Pape Clement and Haut Brion, so you get to be amazed that such great wines are literally on the main bus route into town.

Far more attractive than Pessac is Léognan, a chic suburb that feels like it’s in the countryside; even though it is only 15 minutes from downtown. There’s a small centre with patisseries, butchers and wine shops, and a nicely renovated church.
