A lively and interesting visit where you will find young winemakers who have learnt skills not only from their parents (Beatrice’s father is Michel-Pierre Massonie, owner of Château Perron in Lalande de Pomerol), but also from exposure to wider winemaking practices – rigorous pruning, extended hang time for the ripest Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, initial selection on the vine (harvesting takes three times longer than is usual), all natural yeasts, open barrels for fermentation to allow manual cap punching, gravity-fed winemaking - the list goes on, but it’s packaged in an entertaining way by the enthusiasm of its owners, Christophe and Béatrice Choisy. Wines available to buy direct.
Useful information: Free tour and tasting by appointment, Monday to Friday (and some weekends if organised well in advance). Groups welcome (up to 20). Mobile telephone: 06 18 02 06 14. English spoken.
