Silvio Denz, Swiss financier and owner of Lalique glass makers, has recently unveiled a new winery at this good-quality estate, located 6km to the east of Saint Emilion, designed by Italian architect Mario Botta. This strikingly modern building is half-sunken into the hillside with a multi-level gravity system, cooling chambers for the grapes, and row upon row of small sized Taransaud wooden vats. This all makes for a rather interesting wine tourism visit, and is easily one of the most impressive on the Right Bank. The wines are increasingly worth travelling for also, particularly the Peby Faugères cuvée. Wines can be bought direct.
