Botanical gardens in the grounds give an extra dimension to the visit at this Grand Cru Classé property, owned by American Stephen Adams since 2004. New wooden tanks have been introduced for vinification, together with new barrels for the ageing cellar, and a general upping of attention to detail – all of which come across in the tour. Exhibitions are also often held, throughout the summer months. The tour takes you out into the vineyards as well as the cellar. A good boutique sells a range of wines from of Adams-owned properties, and a lovely tasting room overlooks the vines. Buy wine direct, and this is one of the few Bordeaux estates to have a Wine Club on the American model, where members can get wines sent directly to them four times a year.
