There are several events to enjoy local wines, especially sweet whites, with foie gras and with a backdrop of illuminated châteaux.

Châteaux en Lumière

A weekend (usually in early August, but check ahead) where a number of events are set around the backdrop of châteaux illuminated at night – concerts, markets, tastings, art exhibitions. Last year, the weekend coincided with the tourist office in Langon offering day or whole weekend horse-back rides through the vineyards.

Foie Gras and Barsac

Usually held on the last weekend in November, this Christmas-themed festival pairs up locally-produced foie gras (mostly from the Landes region) with the local sticky wine. There are a series of lunches and dinners held at several estates, alongside other events.

Sweet Bordeaux

Not held in Sauternes itself, but this new marketing organisation holds regular ‘Sweet Hours’ in bars and restaurants around Bordeaux city, offering cocktails made from a base of sweet wines. The website has a range of events, recipes and more.
