Hélène Lévêque runs one of the largest properties in the Graves, with 97ha, and in 2005 began working with oenologist Herbert de Bouard of Château Angélus. Even before this, she followed many of the winemaking practices of the big châteaux, without the attendant prices (in fact, most of these wines are great value at around €10 per bottle). The grapes are half red and half white, as is far more usual in Graves than elsewhere in Bordeaux. A young team are really making big changes here, and it is an invigorating visit. Lovely park also.

Useful information: €5 tour and tasting (refundable on purchase of a bottle), on appointment 09.00-12.30 and 13.30-16.30 from Monday to Saturday. Tour lasts one hour in the cellars and vinification rooms, followed by tasting of red and white Graves wines. Possibility to also buy wines direct. Tour in English if you book in advance. Groups welcome (up to 30 people).
