If its architecture that attracts you, then drive on by this place and head to its neighbour (and once part of the same estate) Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey. But if it’s the wine you want, try this well run  premier cru , which is very welcoming and makes an excellent visit. You will spend most of the visit in the cellars, where they give a great explanation of the labour of love that makes a good Sauternes. And delve into their history – Peyraguey was once owned by a Monsieur De Prichard, president of the Bordeaux Parliament, until he met the guillotine during the French Revolution. Today, Martine Langlais-Pauly runs the estate with a warm and exacting hand.
