Owned by Welsh-New Zealander couple Nicola and Sean Allison, this château, with 15ha in the Graves appellation and 10ha in Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, produces one of the region’s most revelatory white wines. There is also a Bordeaux Blanc, but it’s their white Graves, with a high percentage of Sémillon mixed with the Sauvignon, that could be straight out of New Zealand. It is packed with star-bright fruit flavours; apple, citrus and gooseberry with a lovely minerality. A very interesting visit also, because they are always trying out new methods (such as different yeasts, different methods of pruning and trellising, new types of oak), and they are happy to discuss them with you. Certified organic since 2009. This is a good château to visit during harvest time, as they like to get their visitors into the vineyards.
