A trained oenologist, Jean-Pierre Charlot, the son-in-law of Joseph Voillot, has cellars both in Pommard and Volnay. This 10ha domaine produces elegant and balanced wines that can be cellared for many years. The grapes are de-stemmed, briefly cold-soaked, and fermented at temperatures up to 33 degrees. With only about 25% new oak, the different characters of the four Volany Premier Crus – Champans, Les Brouillards, Les Caillerets, and Les Fremiets are clearly marked. There are two splendid Pommard Premier Crus, Rugiens and Pezerolles as well as several village wines.
