This 11ha estate was slowly assembled by Jean who emigrated from Poland to Burgundy in 1932. He not only farmed onions, but worked for several domaines including the Trapets, and the Gelins. Their holdings include a plethora of Gevrey Premiers Crus: Les Champonnets, Les Corbeaux, Les Goulots, and La Perrière, plus a greatly admired Morey St-Denis Premier Cru Les Millandes. One Grand Cru, Clos St-Denis, an old vine Gevrey village wine plus a Chambolle Musigny village wine complete the list. This is truly a family affair with two families hard at work, including a daughter who spent a year in California. The grapes are de-stemmed and cold-soaked for a week before a long fermentation. The wines are bottled after 18 months without fining or filtration. They are deep in colour, nicely rounded, and capable of long ageing. Right in the village centre, they have a shop and a tasting room.
Useful information: Shop and tasting room open Monday – Saturday 09.00-12.00 and 14.00-19.00 – if it’s closed during these times, a signpost on the door in French directs you to their office in the courtyard of number 27 next door.
