On Viré’s village square, this old café has had a make-over into a seriously good restaurant, one of the best values in the Mâconnais and recognized with a Michelin star in 2009. In the elegant dining-room, expect stylish modern cooking with an emphasis on the freshest ingredients cooked with pin-point accuracy. A very light ravioli comes with sparkling green vegetables and Parmesan cream, then perhaps tournedos of roast cod with ginger croustillant. For dessert, roast pear, caramel sauce and passion fruit ice cream. The best of local growers’ wines, charming service and a relaxed atmosphere. Go! Early in 2009, the Carrion family opened a comfortable hotel with spa.
