The place to stay in Epernay for those who search out boutique hotels, Le Clos Raymi is a small 19th century mansion that once belonged to one of the Chandons of Moët & Chandon fame. Just seven bedrooms, all en suite and each one individually decorated by the irrepressible Madame Woda, the mother-in-law of Anselme Selosse (Champagne Jacques Selosse). Although Madame Woda's lovingly restored property is getting a little worn, her superb breakfasts remain one of Champagne’s kept secrets. Private parking too.
Useful information: Rooms: €120-€190; breakfast: €18
