If you tire of hotel life, stay in this delightful period town house, the perfect Chambres d'Hôtes for quality and value. Ideally placed on the Avenue de Champagne, it's just a seven minute walk from the town's restaurants. The Rimaires, a courtly old couple, and their son are naturally welcoming hosts. The five high ceilinged bedrooms are done out in soothing shades of beige, blue and prune; the ensuite shower-rooms with WC are spotless and water pressure is good. There's also a larger suite. Continental breakfasts with good croissants, breads, jams and fresh fruits are much better than in the local hotels. You can take an aperitif on the terrace shaded under great trees, or you can visit and buy from the Champagne cellar off the courtyard, which offers secure lock-up car parking. Highly recommended. Book well in advance, it's justly popular.
Useful information: Rooms: €100; suite: €110. Includes breakfast.
