Right opposite the great house of Bollinger, growers Michel and Christian Gosset come from one of the oldest families in Aÿ, here since the late 16th century. Theirs is a model estate, with 15ha of exceptional hillside sites above the town and with a plot of Chardonnay in Grand Cru Chouilly as well. Their Champagnes are as distinctive and different as their land, cultivated organically, from low yields, each parcel vinified separately. Go for the Réserve Grand Cru Brut, a lovely mix of fullness and elegance - this is the pouring Champagne in several Michelin starred restaurants in London. Their vintage-dated Noirs d'Aÿ (excellent 2004) is a pure grand cru Pinot Noir that magically combines power and delicacy – as good as anything from a grande maison.
