For a change from formal haute cuisine, something with more exoticism and originality, Version Originale is it. In the heart of the city, next door to the famous Brasserie Boulingrin, chef patron Christophe Mertes combines wide culinary influences – a little Thai, a little Creole, a hint of Moroccan - into a light cuisine, low in fat but rich in flavour. Start with steamed dim sum or brochettes of marinated chicken with ginger, then maybe marmite of sole with warm oysters and blanquette de legumes, or for offal lovers, veal kidneys and sweetbreads with girolles mushrooms and glazed onions. Leave space for mille feuilles of roasted pears with chocolate sauce. Friendly service.
