Visit classic crayères cellars, see where and how La Grande Dame, Madame Clicquot, invented remuage on a trestle table (actually it was her chef de caves, Antoine Müller, but don’t be a party-pooper if you want attentive service at the tasting afterwards), and then be taken to Orange Heaven (sorry Veuve Clicquot 'yellow'), where you can invest in possibly the heaviest-branded image in the world. Note that visits must now be reserved in advance and there is a range of pricey, specialist tours and tastings.
Useful information: Open for tours by appointment Tuesday to Saturday from 1 April to 31 October, and Tuesday to Friday in November and March (closed mid-November – end February). Booking can be made through the website where you will find a range of tours from €13 per person. Tailor made programmes and dinners can be arranged for groups.
