Full disclosure: the Hotel-Restaurant La Terrasse is owned by Madame and Monsieur Pietri, my wife’s aunt and uncle. We eat there at least once each time that we visit my in-laws who have a family house in a nearby village. It’s included here not through any family obligation, but because of its proximity to the 1,218m Col de Bavella mountain pass, with the jagged Aiguilles de Bavella peaks rising 400m higher; for its charcuterie maison (cured-pork sausages prepared on site by the Pietris) and other homemade Corsican specialties (wild boar, trout fished from nearby mountain streams, sweet, chestnut-flour desserts, etc.); and for the view (the best in the village) of the spectacular mountains. Portions are generous, the cost is reasonable, and the pleasure of eating on the terrace that gives the restaurant its name make this a good stopping off point between Ajaccio and Porto-Vecchio.
Useful information: Menus: €21-€35. Half-Board: €59 per person. Open April - October.
