This little shop is a real find for those who are intrigued by oils and vinegars, the name of the shop. Philippe Gonet has been the only producer of vinegar in Arbois for over 15 years, most particularly from Vin Jaune. He supplies not only the local gourmet restaurants but the Georges Blanc and many others who buy his fine vinegars as a cooking ingredient rather than for use in salad dressing. The shop, opened in 2008, sells their range of vinegars as well as carefully selected oils, including local walnut oil. They also offer a selection of wines mainly from independent growers outside of the Jura, though they do bottle a range or wines under their own label. The shop is ideal for present buying, but you can also learn a lot by asking to smell the different vinegars.
Useful information: Open every day 09.15-12.15 and 14.00-19.00. You can also find a range of the wines and vinegars for sale on the website (in French only) www.vins-et-vinaigres.com.
