A tiny establishment right in the middle of Arbois; Pascal Clairet used to run the regional Comité des Vins and knows the region very well; both Pascal and his wife delightful and thoughtful wife Evelyne are trained oenologists. The vineyards are priority and have had organic and biodynamic certification since 2010. Added sulphur-dioxide is rarely used and the Clairets are part of the natural wine movement - their cellars are immaculate. Wine and food is another shared passion. Their delightful bistrot is open in summer on a lovely terrace alongside the river - there are sometimes music evenings too. Here you can enjoy a glass of wine with a selection of light tapas-style plates. In their wine range look out for their Poulsard red called l'Uva de l’Arboisiana and some fascinating Savagnins.
Useful information: Tasting room open every day except Sunday, but as always, it would be better to make an appointment. Groups by arrangement (40 maximum and a small charge is made). The bistrot is open late June to early September, lunchtimes and evenings (except Sunday evening). At the bistrot there are wines available by the glass from €4 or by the bottle. Some English spoken. Reservations on 06 43 54 54 94
