A very classic range of wines produced in a traditional cellar at the top end of the winegrowing village of Montigny. Bearded Jacques Puffeney is a quiet and serious character who repays getting to know. He is a great believer in the use of wooden foudres for maturation of both his Chardonnays and his reds. His Vins Jaunes are always superb due in part to a rigorous barrel selection process and his minerally, firm reds have quite a following in the USA. Be warned, you will taste in his cellar which is small, traditional and cold, but it’s worth suffering.
