The chef (an ex-employee of the previous owner of restaurant) and his wife, took over in 2007 and decorated this restaurant with brightly-painted masks traditionally used in La Comédie (the theatre). Located next to a delightful, historic square, which has a convenient car park, this is the only restaurant of note in the middle of Lons-le-Saunier. The square has an old wine press in the middle and you can still see the old maisons de vignerons, traditional houses with cellar entrances, just half a storey below ground level. You will find a small choice of typical French fare here with a twist of Jura, and fish is particularly recommended – ask what’s best that day, making sure to ask the price before ordering! The wine list is short but correct and includes a good choice from Ganevat.
Useful information: Menus: €20-€30. Closed Sundays, Mondays, two weeks in April, most of August and a week in early January.
