Recently with new owners, the chef (an ex-employee of the restaurant) and his wife have given this restaurant a face-lift, decorating the walls with brightly-painted masks traditionally used in La Comédie (the theatre). Located next to a delightful square, Place de la Comédie, which has a convenient car park, this is the only restaurant of note in the middle of Lons-le-Saunier. The square has an old wine press in the middle and you can still see the old maisons de vignerons, traditional houses with cellar entrances, just half a storey below ground level. You will find typical French fare here with a twist of Jura with fish particularly recommended – ask what’s best that day, making sure to ask the price before ordering! The wine list is short but correct and includes a good choice from Ganevat.
