Jean Berthet-Bondet is a fabulous ambassador for the Jura and its wines, and was until recently mayor of the village of Château-Chalon, even though he comes from outside the region. He has restored a beautiful old manor house at the top of the village and has a tasting caveau, open weekends and by appointment. Tasting his range provides a very good introduction to the traditional wines of the Jura and his Château-Chalon is a fantastic exemple. Recently he has restored an old house next door to his own, which is let out as a gîte sleeping up to 12.

Useful information: Visits Monday–Saturday 10.00-12.00 and 14.00-19.00 by appointment. English spoken. Groups are also welcome by appointment and a charge is made.
