The Labet family is amongst the most welcoming I know in the Jura and produce an exemplary range of terroir-specific Chardonnays. Alain and Josie and their three adult children are all involved in the wine production, with winemaker son, Julien, also moonlighting making his own wines. The vineyards are farmed virtually organically and a visit to the vineyards with one of the family is instructive. Nearly all the whites are produced in a non-oxidative ‘floral’ style with extremely skilled use of oak fermentation and maturation. The Jaune is good and the Vin de Paille, sweeter than some and delicious. This visit is a must for lovers of fine white wines.
Useful information: Visits only by appointment. Groups (up to 25) can be taken. English spoken.
