Originally working with the family at Château de l'Etoile Philippe and his father Bernard created their own completely separate domaine in 2001. Son, Philippe had already worked for ten years at the château and was keen to make his own way. With around 13ha of vines all in the AC l'Etoile, he makes the whole range of Jura wines, with whites the speciality as is typical for this village. Philippe spends as much time as possible in the vineyards and works with agriculture raisonnée (sustained agriculture methods). The wines are traditional for the area (the only exception being an occasional non-oxidative cuvée of Savagnin made in small quantities 'for educational purposes'), however, the oxidative flavours are less marked in his wines than in many, in particular his basic Chardonnay cuvée. It's definitely worth a stop here to taste through this range.
