Itineraries

Ideal One-Day Itinerary Around Saint Chinian

MORNING
Follow the suggested drive above as far as Roquebrun then take the D19 heading southeast to Causses-et-Veyran.
Visit 1: Domaine Borie La Vitarèle
Retrace the route but turn left after 2 km onto the D136 to Cessenon-sur-Orb, then the D20 back towards St-Chinian. About half way, turn left to Prades-sur-Vernazobre then the Route de Berlou.
Visit 2: Domaine Siméoni
Go back to St-Chinian for lunch at, for example La Calèche (8 Grand Rue, 34360 St-Chinian; 04 67 38 25 26).
Alternatively, visit Siméoni first followed by La Vitarele. Afterwards take the D19 south passing through Murviel, then right onto the D16 to Cazouls and have lunch at Les Agapes (see above).

AFTERNOON
Take the D20 south towards Villespassans/Olonzac, which quickly climbs and winds then follow the signs to Mas Champart near the hamlet of Cazo.

 

Ideal Two-Day Itinerary

Day One

MORNING
Take the Route de Murviel from Béziers following the river Orb northwest.
Visit Mas la Chevalière
This road becomes the D19: keep on going to Murviel-lès-Béziers, through Lignan-sur-Orb and passing Thézan en route to Murviel-lès-Béziers for lunch.

AFTERNOON
Visit Château Coujan
Return to Murviel then take the D16 heading northeast, passing through St-Genies-de-Fontedit, until you hit the D909. Turn left and drive on about 10km to the village of Faugères.
Visit 2: Mas d'Alezon, 2 Place de l'Eglise, 34600 Faugères. Tel: 04 67 95 19 72, www.alezon.free.fr. Catherine Roque makes serious yet pure and elegant wines sourced from elevated vineyard sites.
Overnight at La Vigneronne. Dinner there or at O Bontemps (www.o-bontemps.com) in Magalas about 12km south of Faugères.

Day Two in Saint Chinian

MORNING
