Isabelle and Matthieu Champart bought their first vineyard here over 30 years ago and now rank among the region's leading lights. Now they have 16ha planted on their isolated 25ha Saint Chinian estate, located on the swift ascent, at 200 to 300m altitude, to the south of the town just before the hamlet of Cazo. They craft an impeccable range of mostly reds with the stars being Clos de la Simonette, with at least 70% Mourvèdre and Grenache, and Causse du Bousquet, a classic Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Carignan blend.

Useful information: Not able to accommodate large groups, although they have plans to build a larger visitor reception. Ask them if they have any of their friends’ highly recommended wines to taste from nearby la Grange de Quatre Sous (in Assignan Tel: 04 67 38 06 41).
