This enchanting property lying up above the village of Cépie to the north of Limoux, was purchased by English couple James and Catherine Kinglake in 2003 and has spectacular views on all sides. James and his vineyard manager and winemaker are making lovely Chardonnays -oak-aged, full-bodied AC Limoux and unoaked Vin de Pays; surprisingly good Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc and an attractive Pinot Noir rosé. With the successful 2006 vintage, Bégude also launched an experimental red batch made from late-picked Pinot called L’Esprit and a limited barrel-selection Chardonnay called L’Etoile; and have just released a delicious drink-young style Pinot red. They also rent out their family gîte and will lay on tastings with food if booked in advance.
