Guy and Arnaud Escourrou are a father and son team making excellent red Cabardès from 10 ha of vineyards. Arnaud’s flagship wine, called La Régalona (selected Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and occasionally Merlot) shows great depth of fruit, structure and ageing potential. The wine has created quite a stir in the region and further afield in Bordeaux even, where a leading critic has praised it very highly. Arnaud has launched a Régalona project in Chile, and now Argentina too, using the same quality philosophy and varieties. So an appointment is advisable as he spends several months away from their unassuming home in the sleepy village of Ventenac, although dad is an equally enthusiastic host.
