Award-winning Auzines is another organically farmed estate set on beautiful forestland and rolling hills at 300m altitude, and is run by talented winemaker/viticulturist Bruno Bernet and his enthusiastic team. To find it, take the D3 road out of Lagrasse towards Carcassonne, then follow the signs turning right over a narrow bridge then left and keep climbing until you arrive at the winery buildings and château itself. Try the sought-after Syrah based micro-cuvée des Roches if they have any left. Alternatively their red Corbières Fleurs de Garrigues (majority Carignan) or Hautes Terres (Grenache- Syrah), and excellent white Corbières called Fleurs Blanches (mostly Grenache Gris, barrel-fermented) are definitely worth a taste as well. Afterwards, give yourself time to stroll around the vineyards and fully appreciate this peaceful spot and some real fresh air!
