This huge progressive cooperative, and one of the oldest founded in 1913, makes a wide range of Vins de Pays, Fitou and Corbières. Seek out their higher quality Fitous: Reserve, les Douze, les 4 (the latter two refer to the specific growers whose grapes made up the wine) and L’Exception; as well as single-site wines called Vins Vents Vignerons such as the Montmal threesome and Coucante from Corbières. The towering outdoor stainless winery stands in stark contrast below the rugged Mount Tauch cliff face, and it makes for an interesting walk to clamber around it: who said big couldn’t be beautiful! At the front of the winery, the new Mont Tauch multimedia visitor centre and shop finally opened last summer, where you can taste the range, get interactive information (giant computer screens and a film) on the cooperative and surrounding villages, and find out about their guided vineyard tours too.
