Possibly France’s largest scale biodynamic producer, Cazes has opened a cosy on-site restaurant with extra tables outside on an attractive patio in the courtyard. They serve mostly organic produce prepared simply, yet stylishly with limited choice menus that change regularly, such as fresh dab or grilled rabbit. Next door in the enlarged and refitted tasting room/shop, you can try their full range including a few sensational aged VDNs such as 1990 Rivesaltes Tuilé or 1978 Ambré 'Aimé Cazes' (the restaurant is also named after their pioneering grandfather); as well as wines from another member of the Cazes stable: Mas de Lavail, which is located off the main road to Maury and owned/run by Nicolas, Marie Laure and Jean Batlle. You’ll find the main winery, offices and restaurant just out of Rivesaltes town centre (well signposted).
Useful information: Menus: €16 (lunch)-€35. Wines by the glass from €2 or bottles from €10.
