The Parcé brothers Marc, Pierre and Thierry have built up this old family estate into something approaching cult, although they wouldn't approve of that terminology. Marc in particular, as president of the Collioure growers' association and nationwide lobby group Sève, is very involved in trying to shape the appellation's future and promote it beyond the region. La Rectorie covers 27ha in as many different parcels making mostly red Collioure, although over the last few years Banyuls production and sales have steadily increased. Before that, they almost gave up on VDNs due to local AC politics and the kind of wines and quality that seemed to represent the appellation. Collioure wines to look out for include their creamy punchy Côté Mer rosé (Grenache, Carignan, Counoise, Syrah) and three reds from different sites and altitudes: L'Oriental (powerful, firm with fruit/tannin layers), Côté Mer (more savoury yet pure and spicy) and Côté Montagne (more structured, with concentration and freshness). Oh, you might want to try their Cuvée Léon Parcé Banyuls too: pure Grenache, meaty and chocolatey.

Useful information: Open every day except Sundays from 10.00-12.00 and 16.00-19.00 (although probably best to make an appointment on the above number or mobile 06 82 67 04 10).
