Curiously Angers can’t keep a good cheese shop but supports a half dozen excellent chocolatiers, the most famous being that of Monsieur Galloyer of Le Trianon who now also has other baker/patisserie shops called le Grenier à Pain. There are many Anjou-inspired creations, all worth tasting, such as ‘sarments d’Aubigné-sur-Layon’, nougatine with dried fruit enveloped in dark chocolate as well as various wonderful cakes and biscuits.
