Thierry Michon is a high quality, biodynamic producer and the best known in the Fiefs Vendéens. There are 32ha of vines in particular Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir and Negrette but also Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Gamay and Grolleau. The vines are planted on clay and schist. Domaine Saint Nicolas has been biodynamic since 1995. Low yields and attention to detail in the vineyards is the key here. The whole range is good but in particular their Pinot Noir (La Grande Pièce) is remarkably concentrated. Also look out for Le Haut des Clous (Chenin Blanc) and Le Poire (Negrette).
