This Menetou-Salon estate is run by Anne Pellé, whose husband Eric was sadly killed in car crash more than a decade ago. Anne picked up the reins with her parents-in-law and the domaine is now the largest exporter of Menetou-Salon. Anne has now been joined by her winemaking son Henry-Paul. The Pellés have 30ha in Menetou-Salon and 5ha of Sancerre in Montigny at the extreme southwest of the appellation. Here on the main road from Sancerre to Bourges vines on the left are AC Sancerre, while those on the right are Menetou-Salon. The Pellé wines are very consistent in quality. There are a number of white Menetou cuvées: Morogues, Clos de Ratier and Clos des Blanchais. The red Menetou-Salon Les Cris is well worth trying. The 2005 vintage is excellent.
Useful information: Open Monday to Friday 08.30–12.00 and 13:30–17.30. Saturday visits by appointment only; closed Sundays and public holidays.
