This is one of my favourite restaurants in France and given the quality of the food certainly offers amazing value for money. Dallais champions local produce including geline de Touraine, a particularly flavoursome local bred of chicken. Splendid wine list not just for the Loire but for other parts of France especially Languedoc-Roussillon, orchestrated by Xavier Fortin. Somewhat to the south of the main Touraine region, being an hour's drive southeast of Tours, you can stay overnight at the pleasant B&B opposite, Au Fil de l'Aigronne.

Useful information: Menus: €40-€85. Closed Sunday evening, plus all day Monday and Tuesday. Some annual closures. Booking essential.
