Damien is an exciting young producer making both Montlouis and AC Touraine. Alfonse Delecheneau founded the domaine at the end of the 19th century, Damien took over from his father, Jackie, in 2002 and he is the fourth generation. Before taking over Damien had spent time making wine in California and South Africa. He has made a number of significant changes, in particular, moving away from weed killers etc. to ploughing and harrowing the vineyards. They now have nearly 14ha (five in Montlouis). In the vineyard at Amboise that overlooks the town and its château there are some Côt vines that are over 100 years old and some Chenin between 80 and 90 years old. I particularly like Damien’s Montlouis including the Pétillant Nature and his Touraine Rosé made from Grolleaux, Côt and Gamay. The domaine is just off the D31 close to the Parc des Mini-Châteaux.
