One of the most easterly domaines in AC Touraine, Henry Marionnet is unquestionably one of its leading producers. Henry, now joined by his son Jean-Sébastien, is passionately interested by vines, especially old varieties that have virtually disappeared, as well as ungrafted vines. The vineyard was completely replanted between 1967 and 1978. Initially Henry’s success was based exclusively on Sauvignon Blanc and Gamay and he concentrated on a small range of wines rather than trying to make and sell a dozen different wines as many other Loire producers attempt to do. However, over the last 15 years the Marionnet range has expanded considerably to include Côt, Chenin and a Romorantin, called Provinage from a parcel of ungrafted vines, which are over 150 years old. The Vinifera range is made from ungrafted vines.
