There are few world-class producers in the Loire but Domaine Huet is certainly one of the world’s top estates with a remarkable treasure trove of vintages back to the 19th century. There is a long history of quality here. The estate was owned by the Huet family until 2003 and it was Gaston Huet, who really established its reputation. Gaston made his first vintage in 1928. When he died in 2002, the family sold the estate to Anthony Hwang, an American-Chinese businessman who has a venture in Tokaji called Kiralyudvar. Noël Pinguet, Gaston’s son in law, has been making the wines since 1976. Istvan Szepsy is a shareholder as is Noël. Hwang calls Noël “a magician”. The domaine has been biodynamic since 1990. There are three vineyards: Le Haut Lieu, Le Mont and the Clos du Bourg.
