Places to stay

This part of the Loire has a number of de luxe hotels, which rightly feature in many guide books and include Château de Marçay described below. There is also Château d’Artigny near Montbazon, Le Prieuré (www.prieure.com) at Chênehutte les Tuffeaux near Saumur and Château de Rochecotte (www.chateau-de-rochecotte.fr) near Langeais. However, in general I prefer to recommend lesser-known places to stay. There is also a wide choice of chambres d’hôtes in the area often offering a very personal service – Domaine de la Bellevue (www.domainedelabellevue.com) with just one room is one such example.
