This excellent, relaxed small restaurant was opened in 2007 by Olivier Thibault, who used to have L'Escargot in Saumur’s main street. Olivier sold L’Escargot because he wanted to open something less traditional and more modern in style where you can either have a glass of wine, some tapas or a meal. There is an excellent wine list, especially of Saumur and Saumur Champigny and very reasonably priced, plus the friendly Oliver is on hand to advise. The food is uncomplicated using very good ingredients, very well prepared and also well priced. The menu changes very frequently. Highly recommended but make sure you book as it is very small and is already justifiably popular. Just outside the main town near the river.
Useful information: No set menus. Tapas from around €4, first courses from €6 and main courses from €9. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
