Although the majority of Chinon’s vineyards are on the north side of the Vienne, there are a number of significant estates on the south side including Charles Joguet in Sazilly and the Domaine de la Noblaie in the small village of Ligré with its attractive tuffeau buildings and narrow streets. Jérome Billaud, who took over in 2003 having previously worked at Pétrus, Domimus in the Napa Valley and in New Zealand, is pushing Noblaie to new heights. Red, white and rosé Chinon made.
