Domaine de Jale

Address: Route de la Garde-Freinet - Chemin des Fenouils 83550 Vidauban
Tel: 04 94 7 51 50
Geo-coordinates:  Latitude: 43:22:26N (43.37388)    Longitude: 6:27:12W (6.45324)

Technically falling into the coastal zone,  Domaine de Jale is located on the Massif des Maures on the road from Vidauban to La Garde Freinet. However, this vineyard has the unenviable characteristics of being amongst the hottest sites in summer and the coolest in winter with no moderating maritime influence. Bleak stunted forests surround the small estate of 23ha, and there is little to inspire the visitor. But meet Monsieur Seminal and be inspired! Here is a passionate artisan who acknowledges that rosé is the stalwart of Provence’s reputation but is keen, together with five other Provencal vignerons, to actively promote quality red wine in Provence. Acidity may be a problem with such a hot climate – but it is not evident in his stunning range of wines.

Useful information: Open for tastings morning and afternoon every day. Closed Sundays from September to June.
