This vineyard created quite a stir in the late 1980’s when Jacques Seysses, of Domaine Dujac, Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Michel Macaux in Burgundy joined together to create a quality Provencal vineyard. Southern slopes at an altitude of over 400m and clay and limestone soils plus protected from the maritime influence by the Massif Ste Baume means the harvest is a full month behind the coastal vineyards of Bandol a mere 16km away. This coolness combined with careful winemaking ensures that these wines have a great purity of fruit unusual in wines from this region. A vineyard which falls into the zone of coastal Provence purely by its proximity to the sea as the crow flies, but very much in a zone of its own.
